REALLY!? When I had surgery I had anesthesia (Thank the Lord!). I was out until it was way over.
Why wouldn't you use anesthesia?

The same reason you get a root canal awake; it's safer. Local an esthetics don't compromise faculties like preventing yourself from swallowing your own tongue.
